1.  All students must be entered with a social security number when setting up classes.

2.  All students must have a pin number

3. Export Making the Grade files (*.mtg) so they become Webpage Files (*.htm)

(File --> Export Student Data --> The Web ePublisher: GROUPED home page documents)

If all classes are in 1 folder click "ADD ALL CLASSES IN FOLDER" (click here for image)





If classes are in various locations, click "ADD" to add them individually. (click here for image)




4. Classes.htm MUST be saved in a folder with teacher's first initial and last name.

5.  Remember it is OK to delete all files - Files being deleted are old webpages.  The Making the Grade files themselves will NOT be deleted.
6.  Exit Making the Grade and go to WS_FTP and log in with the campus Account

Contact your campus technologist or call ITC at 427-3085 if you have forgotten the password
7.  After logging in - the PUBLIC folder on the remote site MUST be opened as well as the folder with the teacher's first initial and last name. (Click Here for Image)
8.  On the Local system side, the folder with the teacher's first initial and last name must also be opened. (Click Here for Image)
9.  Highlight ALL files in the folder on the Local System (Click here for directions) then click the arrow in the center to send them to the Remote Site (Internet).

TROUBLE-SHOOTING

1. Grades Online show last 3-weeks date.  
     Solution:  Try Clicking the Reload or Refresh Button.


2. I've set up my classes without Social Security Numbers - can I do it now?

CREATING A FOLDER
  • Single-click on the folder button. (It looks like it has a twinkling star in the corner. Circled on the image below.)
  • A box will appear with the words "NEW FOLDER" highlighted in blue. 
  • There is no need to backspace or delete, just begin typing teacher's first initial and last name.
  • Press <ENTER> one time.
  • This will change the word "SAVE" to "OPEN". 
  • Click the word OPEN to open the folder.
  • The file name should remain "classes".  Make no changes.
  • Click SAVE.

THE PUBLIC and TEACHER FOLDERS MUST BE OPEN

  • The "PUBLIC" folder on the Remote Site (Right Side) must be opened.  Double-click to do this. 
  • Next the teacher's folder with the first initial and last name must be opened also (image below)
  • The Folder with the first initial and last name on the Local System (Left Side) must be opened - double click it to do this (image below).

  • Double-click to open folders.  The folder that is opened on the left should match the folder that is on the right.
  • Below is an image of what both opened folders might look like.  (If this is the first time to upload grades, the folder on the remote site will be empty.)

SENDING GRADES TO REMOTE SITE (Internet)
  • To highlight all grades to send over start by single-clicking on the first file. 
  • Hold down the "shift" key on the keyboard and scroll down to the last file.
  • Single-click on the last file.  Now let go of the shift key.  This will highlight all files.
  • Next click on the Arrow in the Center (circled here) to send over all files.
  • Be sure to ONLY select student grade files and classes.htm.

CHANGING Student Numbers to Social Security Numbers

  1. Open the class that needs the social security numbers.
  2. Click on EDIT --> then SETUP INFO  --> CLASS INFORMATION -->STUDENT INFORMATION --> YOUR OWN NUMBERS.  (images below)

GENERATING Student Pin Numbers
When in a class, click on SPECIAL --> GENERATE STUDENT PINS --> DONE.
